It looks like Sony have registered a trademark for Sunset Overdrive, a PC and Xbox title from Sony studio Insomniac Games. This could mean the publisher are looking to port the game to their own platforms PS4 and PS5.

Insomniac Games' PC and Xbox title from 2014 may be coming to the PlayStation platform if the latest registered trademark is anything to go by. According to the listing on the United States Patent and Trademark Office, a trademark for Sunset Overdrive has been registered on April 26, 2021. The listing states that Insomniac Games, Inc. are the applicant behind the trademark.

At the moment, there are no official details about Sunset Overdrive PlayStation ports or a potential sequel for the game. This trademark may or may not mean that Sony are looking to revive the franchise so take it with a dose of scepticism, until we get a confirmation from the official channels.

Over a year ago, Insomniac Games tweeted a screenshot of Sunset Overdrive, which many fans understood to be a tease for a brand new Sunset Overdrive game but since then, nothing happened and it's safe to say that this was just a simple throwback post for the underrated game.

Sunset Overdrive is currently available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X (via backwards compatibility) and PC. The game initially launched as an Xbox One exclusive but was ported to PC a couple of years ago.

The IP is owned by Insomniac Games (Sony) so it's safe to assume that the team are probably eager to work on something new in the near future.
