One team of developers at Insomniac Games might have already started their work on the studio's next Spider-Man project. An animator for Insomniac Games hinted that a Spider-Man 2 game is in the works.
Insomniac Games' first foray into the world of Spider-Man has taken the world by storm back in 2018 with the arrival of Spider-Man PS4.
The team hasn't let up and produced the show-stopping Spider-Man: Miles Morales for PlayStation 4 and PS5 just in time for the Holiday season of that which we call the year 2020.
Now, Alex Zemke, an Advanced Senior Animator at Insomniac Games who specializes in cinematics, is teasing that the team is working on another Spider-Man game. The self-professed Spider-Manimator has previously lent his abilities to Spider-Man PS4 and Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
While it's not far-fetched to assume that a highly successful franchise is getting a sequel, we'll reserve the confetti until an official announcement from the big wigs at Insomniac Games has made the anticipated rounds.
For reference, Spider-Man PS4 has sold over 20 million copies, while Spider-Man: Miles Morales moved upward of 4 million so far.
If there is a sequel already brewing behind the closed Insomniac doors, the dev studio would seriously live up to its name.
We'll be so bold here to assume that Zemke wasn't acting alone, in that he would probably have to obtain permission before even floating an idea of a Spider-Man sequel without mentioning the game's title. That might lend some credence to the heavy conjecture and speculation happening here.
If Insomniac Games are working on Spider-Man 2, its release date will probably fall somewhere in late 2022 or even Spring of 2023.
