Insomniac Games has officially revealed their first gameplay trailer for Marvel's Wolverine at PlayStation's State of Play. Published by Sony, the game is expected to grace the PlayStation store in Fall 2026.
Marvel's Wolverine is Insomniac's take on the beloved superhero from the X-Men franchise. Like Marvel's Spider-Man titles, the game will feature iconic characters and locations from the Wolverine's comics and media.
Marvel's Wolverine Gameplay Trailer Reveal
Marvel's Wolverine was announced back in 2021, which generated mass anticipation for the fans of the hot-headed superhero. At PlayStation's State of Play this year, Insomniac Games finally revealed the first gameplay trailer for the game, showcasing the game's combat, movement mechanics, iconic X-Men characters, and much more.
While Marvel's Wolverine was received with open arms after its announcement in 2021, a cyberattack on Insomniac Games caused hackers to get their hands on the game's development files.
With the development files, everything related to the game was leaked online, which led to modders making the game playable on PC. However, only a certain part of the game was actually present in the game file leaks, which were mostly centred on the game's combat and movement mechanics.
Following the game file leaks, Insomniac went radio silent on the development status of Marvel's Wolverine. Many fans were speculating that Insomniac could end up canning the game overall, as most of their work was thrown out in the open by hackers.
Fortunately, with the gameplay reveal at this year's State of Play, we got our first look at the gameplay of Marvel's Wolverine, which looks a lot more polished and fluid than the leaked gameplay videos.
From the content shown in the gameplay trailer, it was evident that X-Men characters like Omega Red, Reavers, Prime Sentinel, Sentinel, Bastion, and Mystique are making an appearance in the game either as allies or antagonists.
