Bungie announced that some sandbox changes are arriving to Destiny 2 sooner than you might expect them and these will probably make many PvP players happy.

Shotguns have been dominating all Destiny 2 PvP modes for far too long and Bungie seems to be finally ready to give them a proper slap, as opposed to targeting the wrists.

On July 6, 2021, there will be a balance pass that will probably come at the same time as the weekly reset and the beginning of the Solstice of Heroes 2021. The primary highlights are the nerfs to shotguns, 120 RPM hand cannons and Dead Man's Tale.

Shotgun nerfs will make them have a lower effective range overall since Aggressive Frame ones will have a slightly bigger cone angle now and their damage falloff minimum has been reduced by two metres while damage falloff maximum will be increased by two metres. Slug shotguns are not affected by these changes, giving them a proper role of being able to one-shot enemies in a noticeably longer range compared to other shotgun archetypes.

Hand cannons from the 120 RPM archetype will no longer be able to two-tap with just one stack of Rampage and will deal less precision damage overall. Aim assist will also be less effective at range, depending on the Range stat while the damage falloff minimum distance is getting a one-metre reduction, bringing it closer to other HC archetypes.

Dead Man's Tale will finally require ADS at longer ranges since hipfire will deal less damage at range and the aim assist cone angle on hip fire will be lowered by roughly 20 per cent.
