Rockstar have released an official statement regarding the hacking of their servers that occurred this weekend. The developer have acknowledged that their network has indeed been breached by an unauthorised third party who gained access to secret and confidential information.
Many assumed that such a major event would have devastating effects on the development of GTA 6, which could suffer significant delays but Rockstar have reassured fans that the hack will not disrupt their development process nor delay the game.
"At this time, we do not anticipate any disruption to our live game services nor any long-term effect on the development of our ongoing projects," Rockstar said in their statement.
Obviously, the company are extremely disappointed to have any details of GTA 6 out in public in such a way but they reiterate that the work continues as planned as the team remain committed to delivering a game that exceeds expectations.
Rockstar didn't say when exactly they plan to officially unveil the game, teasing the fans instead by saying that a proper GTA 6 reveal will be coming when the game is ready to be shown to the world.
Over 90 videos of GTA 6 were leaked this Sunday, when a GTA Forums user tepotuberhacker posted a file containing gameplay footage, screenshots and more online. The leak started spreading like wildfire over social media and gaming forums and soon turned into a big mess for Take-Two who were quick to start sending DMCA notices and takedown requests at many addresses.
