Players have been asking for GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption 1 remasters for a long time but unfortunately, Rockstar Games don't seem to care at all. There is nothing official regarding such projects at the time of writing as Rockstar focus on GTA Online and the next GTA game which is well underway.
However, it does seem like Rockstar had plans to remaster both games sometime over the last couple of years. According to Rockstar Games news reported Tez2 and his reliable sources, GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption 1 remasters were on the table a few years ago but the company simply chose against developing such projects.
"As per a reliable source with clear accuracy on Rockstar plans, remasters of GTA IV & RDR1 were on the table a few years ago, but Rockstar chose not to proceed with the projects in mind," Tez2 tweeted.
He speculates that the abysmal release of GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition could be one of the reasons for such a decision.
A massive shame if true but since this is not official info, take it with a dose of scepticism as any rumour or leak.
If such projects were indeed on the table, it's possible that Rockstar may revisit them and give both a chance since we're talking about some of the most highly requested remasters.
But don't get your hopes up. Rockstar's focus is on GTA Online and the next GTA game at the moment and we don't expect that to change anytime soon.
