Rumoured PlayStation 5 reveal event will pack a lot of brand new games and surprises. According to the latest leak on 4chan, a new Resident Evil game could be one of them.

Resident Evil franchise has seen a major rise in the last couple of years, mostly thanks to Resident Evil 7 but also Resident Evil 2 Remake. As you may know, another big title from the survival horror series is coming soon but apparently Resident Evil 3 Remake is not the only game that Capcom have been working on lately.

According to some earlier rumours, Resident Evil 8 development is well underway but of course, nothing has been officially confirmed by Capcom, so take this with a grain of salt. That being said, it is possible that Capcom are working on the game, and the latest leak on 4chan claims that the official reveal could be coming sooner than expected.

Apparently, a brand new Resident Evil game will be shown at a PlayStation 5 reveal event on 05 February. Now, before we dive into this new Resident Evil game, let's just remind you that PlayStation 5 reveal event is yet to be officially confirmed.

That being said, the leak does not reveal whether this new game is Resident Evil 8 or something else. Could it be the heavily-requested Resident Evil 4 Remake? Or maybe it is a full-fledged sequel to Resident Evil 7? At the moment, we can't say.

Earlier rumours also suggest that a new game is indeed in the works. According to a recent Reddit post, Capcom invited Resident Evil Ambassador programme members to test yet unannounced game. Also, a prominent leaker EVIL VR revealed that Resident Evil 3 Remake will be the last Resident Evil game for the current-generation consoles and that Resident Evil 8 will not be coming anytime soon.

"Don’t expect Resident Evil 8 to come anytime soon for it was always planned to be for next-gen with the updated RE Engine," he wrote.

All in all, a lot of rumours and leaks about the next Resident Evil game but we're yet to receive any official info from Capcom. Luckily, we won't have to wait too long to see whether the latest leak is actually true or not, as PS5 event is just around the corner.
