Capcom's survival horror has comfortably taken No.1 spot in this week's UK boxed charts, according to GfK. Resident Evil Village is the second biggest physical launch of 2021, falling behind only Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury.
Capcom's Resident Evil Village is one of the biggest releases of 2021 and the launch week sales reflect this, as expected. According to GfK Entertainment's sales data, the survival-horror title has comfortably taken the top spot on this week's UK boxed charts.
These sale numbers mean that Resident Evil Village is the second biggest boxed launch of this year, coming behind only Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury. The report states that 49 per cent of Resident Evil Village sales were on PlayStation 5, 31 per cent on PlayStation 4 and 20 per cent on the Xbox platform. Keep in mind that these are just physical sales, which can be a bit misleading since digital sales are not included in this data.
Resident Evil Village is also the third biggest PS5 game launch behind Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Assassin's Creed Valhalla, which were released in November last year.
Here is the GfK Top Ten for the week ending May 8, 2021:
- Resident Evil: Village
- New Pokémon Snap
- FIFA 21
- Mario Kart 8: Deluxe
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons
- Minecraft (Switch)
- Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury
- Grand Theft Auto
- Ring Fit Adventure
- Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
