Whether you're a Nintendo fanboy or not, chances are you know Reggie Fils-Aime, a.k.a. the Regginator. It turns out that the man has decided to retire from his seat of president of Nintendo of America and will be replaced by Doug Bowser.

Reggie took to Twitter to reach out to Nintendo community and send a big thank you, insisting that he's got a lot of love and "thousands" of smiles on the account of the company's dedicated fans.

"Thank you for your neverending support and for your passionate love of Nintendo. And personally, for giving me a mushroom kingdom full of incredible memories that I will never forget, ever", Reggie said.

He claims that it was clear to him that Nintendo fans share a unique sense of community that goes well beyond just video games. Apparently, Reggie knew it "from the first time [he] saw the nickname Regginator".

Reggie also presented the new president of Nintendo of America, Doug Bowser, whose name sure won't need any introduction to Nintendo fans, for more than one reason.

Firstly, the obvious connection with Bowser, Nintendo's character, but Reggie claims that Doug is so in tune with Nintendo, that most of his childhood was spent in front of a Donkey Kong arcade machine.

"Inside Nintendo, people already know him as a driving force", Reggie added, "and I ask you - with a name like Bowser - who better to hold the keys to the Nintendo castle?"

Good ol' Reggie says that Bowser, the real Bowser, is well positioned to take over with minimum fuss, as he's got a great working relationship with the rest of Nintendo's teams.

"I leave in good health and good spirits and believe me - my body is still ready", Reggie said, once again proving that he is and always has been a great sport.

There's no doubt that Reggie will be sorely missed, by fans and non-fans alike, as we do believe that even the most hard-core PS and Xbox lovers recall his face and trademark soft demeanour.

Reggie said that his last hoorah comes in April, when he'll be launching a game very dear to his heart, after which he'll hand over the reins to Bowser. No, not that Bowser - Doug Bowser, sheesh.
