One Atlas player has used a technical exploit to start a rain of whales that caused total devastation on North American PVP servers. Grapeshot Games released the official statement saying that the issue has been fixed after server rollback.

A few days after one prankster hijacked Atlas' admin account to cause in the game with tanks, warplanes and whales, another group of players used similar prank, only without the WW2 machinery.

As seen in the screenshot from StreamerHouse gameplay above, the prank of choice had whales spawning over land and sea, ships included, much like in Douglas Adams' legendary book, minus the comedic internal monologue.

According to the official statement from Grapeshot Games, the damage was caused by a technical exploit, which they fixed in the meantime and implemented proper protection to ensure the problem never happens again. Ironically, they said the same after the first exploit.

This time, no administrator accounts were compromised but such repeated offences make us wonder just how are players regularly getting into situations where they can break the game with such hilarious exploits. The developer confirmed that multiple accounts related to the exploit have been banned, both by themselves and BattlEye.

They also mentioned that these cheaters are targeting popular Twitch streamers when exploiting the game. "This group does not have any specific ties to any one company, but are instead targeting streamers and large or well-known companies", Grapeshot Games explained.

To undo the damage, Atlas' NA PvP server, The Kraken’s Maw, had received a rollback to approximately three hours after the issue started to occur in the logging system. Once again, this caused an uproar on PlayAtlas forum as some players lost precious rewards they collected during that time.

"Fantastic! I can't wait to waste another four hours getting to the Fountain of Youth only to get rolled back and the Fountain moved again", one player wrote.

Grapeshot Games offered a small compensation with 2x Bonus Rates until Wednesday. They also made it clear that exploits like these are the team's priority and they are working extensively to find a solution. "We apologize for the inconvenience and we thank you for your patience and understanding during this time", they wrote.
