The latest Atlas update is now live on Steam, and the developer Grapeshot Games have included improved server performance, rebalanced skill point requirements and doubled gold and item awards that players get from Treasure hunting.
After their pirate-themed MMO Atlas endured a rough start on Steam's Early Access, Grapeshot Games have been swimming in some shark-infested waters with many fans blasting at the studio for game's abysmal performance and numerous bugs.
Grapeshot Games already released a bunch of updates and the main focus with these patches was server and client optimisation. The latest one is also bringing some minor fixes to the game's client and better overall performance.
Along with that, the devs doubled Treasure Hunt awards which include gold and various weapons and equipment.
Ships and rafts have seen some adjustments and will no longer prevent resources from respawning. The same issue for online players and structures is yet to be fixed and the developers noted that in patch notes.
From now on, players won't be able to claim unallied boats on PVE servers. This will only become possible if the boat owner in PvE Territory has not been active around the territory within the last 3 days. Speaking about enemy ships, players will now have the opportunity to claim ships in Lawless and Golden Age Ruin servers.
Additionally, Grapeshot Games also fixed a bug with the repair hammer which allowed players to repair structures even if they had a damage cooldown. Repair hammer will still use resources, but the developer confirmed that this will be fixed in the upcoming client patch.
It's always nice to see developers working hard to deliver fast updates for their games, but the sympathy for Grapeshot Games in almost non-existent on various social media sites and gaming forums. What's clear to everyone is that Atlas was released too soon and its mostly negative reviews perfectly reflect players' thoughts on the game.
