NetherRealm have officially confirmed that Kano is joining the Mortal Kombat 11 fighter roster. The developer revealed The Black Dragon clan member during a stream in Brazil before confirming the addition on Mortal Kombat's Twitter.

With Mortal Kombat 11 still a couple of months away from launch, NetherRealm have slowly started to introduce new and old characters to the Mortal Kombat 11 fighter roster.

The latest character to make another appearance in the series is the mercenary Kano who was revealed during a stream in Brazil. While NetherRealm didn't show any gameplay footage of Kano, they did reveal an exclusive skin for Brazilian players.

The skin is named Cangaçeiro and it's a reference to a bandit phenomenon in Northeast Brazil in late the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Details about Kano and his appearance in Mortal Kombat 11 is pretty scarce at the moment. It' unclear how Kano's introduction could affect the story but it wouldn't be surprising to see him in another beef with Sonya Blade.

In previous Mortal Kombat games, some of  Kano's signature moves were Kanoball, Knife Throw, Chokehold and Eye Laser. Kanoball is certainly his most popular move and it sees Kano curl into a ball and fly towards his opponent. The move has multiple variations which change the direction of Kano's flight.

One thing that didn't make some people happy is the visual design of Kano. Some Twitter users replied to the announcement claiming that Kano has been visually downgraded from Mortal Kombat X.

While it's true that he's not as detailed as in the last game, NetherRealm previously confirmed various options for character customisation which will, hopefully, be enough to add more variation to Kano's look.

The addition of Kano means that Mortal Kombat 11's roster now counts nine officially confirmed characters. Kano is joining previously announced Scorpion, Baraka, Sonya Blade, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Geras, Skarlet and Shao Kahn who comes as a pre-order bonus.

More fighters should be announced in the upcoming weeks and it will be interesting to see if from Scooby Doo makes an appearance. A petition to make Shaggy a DLC character in Mortal Kombat 11 is currently ongoing and more than 275,000 people have signed it.

Mortal Kombat 11 is out on 23 April 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
