NetherRealm Studios have announced Mortal Kombat 11 will have a free weekend promotion running from 11 through 14 October 2019, offering even the DLC characters during the trial. PC players will not get the free weekend though.
PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players will have an opportunity to try Mortal Kombat 11 out, starting on 11 October 2019. The promotion is only for the consoles so PC players will, unfortunately, have to wait for another chance.
The free weekend will let players experience Mortal Kombat 11 almost in the same way those who purchased will be able to. All the multiplayer game modes will be available and the same goes for the entire base roster of MK11.
Differences start popping their heads up with the story mode, however, as one of the shining spots on NetherRealm's games will mostly be locked out unless one purchases the gore galore fighting game. Free players will have access only to the first two chapters in the story mode, so it's kind of unclear how the devs will handle the "full base game roster" and "no access to the fourth chapter of story mode".
Namely, Frost is infamously locked behind either a or story mode chapter four, which is not available to the free players. It remains to be seen if they will be able to experience the chilly but hotheaded disciple of Sub Zero.
On top of the regular fighters, free players will have access to the three DLC characters - Shang Tsung, Nightwolf and T-800. These three will be available in a limited capacity though as they will only be playable in Towers of Time mode.
