NetherRealm Studios decided to offer Mortal Kombat 11 players a preview of what Joker will be like in the game when he arrives. Several references offered a lot of fan service but to highlight is probably Joker's unorthodox fatality.
Joker stole the show once again, or more precisely - he is going to. The Caped Crusader's nemesis will join the Mortal Kombat 11 roster on 28 January 2020 via early access but the full release will happen on 4 February 2020.
As for Joker's gameplay, you can check it out on the official trailer that's also embedded below but here is a quick description of what you can expect. There are several gags as he carries a revolver that is "concealed" in a hand pupped made in Batman's image.
There are also nut punches so those who can't handle sensitive imagery should stay away from him. Then again, this is Mortal Kombat 11 we are talking about, you wouldn't be playing it if you couldn't handle unsightly scenes.
Another interesting note from the trailer is the sheer amount of references. The clown prince of crime makes quite an obvious reference to a certain infamous crowbar beatdown, and then there are the outfits that the other characters wearing. Baraka is dressed as Killer Croc, Noob Saibot as Batman and Kitana is wearing Catwoman's outfit. That probably makes her Catana, or Katana since Ed Boon is allergic to the letter c.
However, Joker's fatality takes the cake. Actually, his victim does, right before the game pulls a sneaky on you by saying you performed friendship instead. Then it pulls another one and corrects itself into saying fatality, in the traditionally brutal Mortal Kombat way.
Oh, bonus notes - Noob Saibot's Batman costume is not a reference to the regular one, but rather Batman Who Laughs and there is Joker smile move in the trailer.
