The League of Legends Worlds 2023 tournament has been nothing short of sensational. It's been filled with thrilling moments, from the intense NA vs. EU rivalry during the Worlds Qualifying Series to Team Whales' surprising performance in the Play-Ins stage. The introduction of the Swiss Stage format has injected more excitement into the competition.
The Swiss Stage featured sixteen elite teams from across the globe battling it out in both Bo1 and Bo3 matches. This new format brought about some major upsets. Surprisingly, none of the LEC teams managed to make it through the Swiss Stage. Even more astonishing was the LCS's NRG, the first seed, reaching the Quarterfinals by defeating Europe's G2 Esports. The Swiss Stage was marked by unpredictability and captivating gameplay.
Now, with the Swiss Stage concluded, the Quarterfinals are on the horizon. Let's dive into the upcoming matchups in the Worlds 2023 Quarterfinals!
NRG vs. Weibo Gaming
The first Quarterfinal match features the LCS's first seed, NRG, going up against the fourth seed of the LPL, Weibo Gaming.
Both teams delivered commendable performances during the Swiss Stage. NRG kicked off with a loss to Weibo Gaming but steadily improved throughout the tournament. Notably, they defeated G2 Esports, Europe's top seed, becoming the sole Western team to advance to the Quarterfinals. Weibo Gaming, despite some inconsistent showings, secured a spot in the Quarterfinals.
While these teams appear closely matched in terms of power, Weibo Gaming holds a slight edge due to their greater experience on the international stage. Nevertheless, NRG has surprised many this year, and they might continue to do so in this matchup.

Gen.G vs. Bilibili Gaming
The second Quarterfinal match sees the LCK's first seed, Gen.G, taking on the LPL's second seed and MSI finalist, BLG (Bilibili Gaming).
Gen.G and JD Gaming were among the first teams to secure their spots in the Quarterfinals. Gen.G enjoyed a perfect 3-0 start, defeating GAM, T1, and G2 Esports. BLG, however, had a somewhat turbulent journey during the Swiss Stage. Despite their impressive showing at MSI, they struggled in the Worlds Swiss stage. Ultimately, they qualified by defeating G2 Esports in a 2-1 fashion.
Overall, the Gen.G vs. BLG matchup, though leaning towards Gen.G, promises to be an exciting spectacle.

Beijing JDG Intel Esports Club vs. KT Rolster
The reigning MSI champions, JD Gaming (JDG), are back and aiming for the Summoner's Cup. They sailed through the Swiss Stage with a perfect 3-0 record and are set to face the LCK's top regular season team, KT Rolster, in the Quarterfinals.
KT Rolster faced one of the most challenging Swiss Stage runs in the Worlds 2023 tournament. Despite the hurdles, they persevered and secured a Quarterfinal berth. Their most formidable challenge, however, lies ahead as they take on the LPL powerhouse, JD Gaming.
Match Time: Saturday, November 4, 5 pm KST
Suzhou LNG Esports vs. T1
The LNG vs. T1 matchup is arguably one of the most highly anticipated clashes in the Quarterfinals. The third seed of the LPL, LNG, will go head-to-head with the formidable LCK giants, T1, in the final match of the Worlds 2023 Quarterfinals.
Both teams possess similar power levels, but if T1 can replicate their performance from the BLG match, they should be well-equipped to overcome LNG.
