Riot Games always introduces significant meta-shifting changes during their mid-season updates, and the most recent one was no different.
A few months ago, League of Legends received the mid-season update for Season 13, which brought extensive modifications to the game's itemization and reworked several existing items. One of the items that underwent changes in this update was Trinity Force.
Items like Divine Sunderer, Immortal Shieldbow, Goredrinker, and Kraken Slayer overshadowed Trinity Force. However, with the reworks that turned Immortal Shieldbow and Kraken Slayer into legendary items, Trinity Force emerged as a viable alternative. Many marksmen champions began opting for Trinity Force instead of their previous mythic crit options.
Trinity Force changes
In the upcoming patch, 13.14, Riot Games will be making slight adjustments to Trinity Force. The changes in Patch 13.14 for Trinity Force are as follows:
- Base AD per stack: Increased from 4% to 6%.
- Number of stacks: Reduced from 5 to 3.
These changes aim to provide a slight buff to melee Trinity Force users by increasing the base AD per stack. However, the maximum number of stacks has been reduced, resulting in a slight nerf for ranged Trinity Force users.
These adjustments allow players to reach the item's highest potential damage earlier in the game. However, in longer team fights, Trinity Force will not maintain its current level of overwhelming strength.
Overall, this change is relatively minor in the grand scheme of things. However, if Trinity Force continues to dominate as one of the strongest items in the game, we may anticipate more significant nerfs in the future.
