The League of Legends World Championship, commonly abbreviated as Worlds, is the annual professional League of Legends world championship tournament hosted by Riot Games and is the culmination of each season.
Teams compete for the champion title, the 70-pound Summoner's Cup, and a multi-million-dollar championship prize. And it's precisely this Cup that Riot are changing this year. Perhaps that is why some other things are falling by the wayside.
The trophy case designed by Luis Vuitton in 2021, will now be filled by a creation from Tiffany & Co. This is not their first time designing trophies of this kind, either, as they've already done the LPL Silver Dragon Cup for Riot Games, not to mention other works in their long history.
The new Summoner's Cup will be revealed on August 29, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. CEST. At this time, all we know is that the cup will keep the royal blue motif it had before, from their announcement regarding the cooperation with Tiffany& Co.
"The Summoner’s Cup is a symbol of greatness in esports and the crowning achievement in League of Legends,” said Naz Aletaha, Global Head of League of Legends Esports for Riot Games.
We hope that the new Summoner's Cup will go to hard-earned victors and that this year's World Championship will bring us new excitements, and the raising of the cup will be a momentous occasion.
