Patch 25.S1.4 for League of Legends introduces significant system changes and item adjustments designed to enhance game balance.
Riot Games executed extensive modifications of tank items, movement speed equipment, and critical damage gear to create a more balanced and engaging gameplay environment.
The following details explain all the system modifications included in this update.
System buffs
The developers have given select items power increases to improve their performance according to the current meta trends.
Mercury’s Treads
- Total cost reduced to 1250 from 1300.
- Combine cost reduced to 550 from 600.
Symbiotic Soles
- Movement speed increased to 40 from 35.
System nerfs
- Multiple tank items that exceed performance expectations receive nerfs to sustain balanced gameplay.
Abyssal Mask
- Magic resistance reduced to 45 from 50.
Fimbulwinter
- The Everlasting base shield now offers 100 protection for all levels between 100 to 180.
- The base shield amount has been decreased to 180 which initially varied between 180 and 324 based on level.
Heartsteel
- The Colossal Consumption ability now provides 8% bonus health from damage dealt instead of the previous 10%.
- The bonus health value has decreased from 7 which included +0.6% maximum health to 5.6 with +0.48% maximum health.
Plated Steelcaps
- The plating damage reduction value has been lowered from 12% to 10%.
Unending Despair
- Removed: The ability Anguish does not inflict 8 – 15 base damage anymore.
Item adjustments
The cost and damage parameters of Infinity Edge will undergo adjustments to refine its impact within the existing meta.
Infinity Edge
- Total cost reduced to 3450 from 3600.
- Combine cost reduced to 675 from 825.
- Attack damage reduced to 65 from 70.
The upcoming changes to items and system mechanics will create substantial shifts in the League of Legends meta particularly affecting tank champions and champions who depend on critical damage.
When Patch 25.S1.4 goes live on February 20, 2025 players will have to adjust their item selections and strategic approaches. Riot's ongoing game balance refinements will be announced through subsequent updates.
