With Patch 14.22, several champions notably received boosts from Riot Games, rebalancing the power and amplitude of some underperforming heroes. Swain, Kayle, and Blitzcrank are just some champions that have enhancements to make them more competitive in the meta.
Also, League of Legends' Patch 14.22 seems to tear down several presently strong champions by their nerf, dialing it back to even out their power levels. Included in the number are Aatrox, Anivia, and Jax, who have been dialed back.
Champion Buffs in LoL Patch 14.22: Swain, Kayle, and More
Swain is one of the favorite control mages, and his Death's Hand and Demonic Ascension get various upgrades.
He has a minor boost to magic resistance, but more importantly, his Death's Hand is getting a higher base damage, bonus damage gain per bolt, and increased maximum total damage, giving him better poking potential.
His Demonic Ascension now also allows him to heal more effectively, making him an even grizzlier kill when coming into a team fight.
Meanwhile, the passive Divine Ascent passively gives Kayle a lot more bonus attack speed per 100 AP-a scaling power and a more viable late game powerhouse, so to say.
Blitzcrank's Power Fist gets an AD ratio buff, going up from 80% to 100%, boosting his aggressive support potentials even further.
Other champions that are getting buffs are Fizz, Irelia, Rumble, Varus, Vayne, Vel'Koz, and Vi, all of which have adjustments in their stats and ability ratios to increase utility and damage.
This will definitely provide new dynamics in competitive matches and allow other ways to play that haven't been thought of.
LoL Patch 14.22 Nerfs: Aatrox, Anivia, and Jax Among Key Champions
Aatrox gets a nerf in bonus AD from World Ender. He is a highly sustainable champion with a lot of damage, so this is going to keep him in line and not allow for too much burst damage to overpower a fight.
Together the armor growth is reduced, making her a little more vulnerable. Frostbite has its AP ratio lowered too; it means she will not deal quite as much damage and therefore can't stay effective in longer fights.
Riot is taking this as an opportunity to tune down Debonair Jax's Grandmaster-At-Arms ability, adding a bit more cooldown to the ability and lowering its base damage in order to make him a little less dominant in skirmishes.
Other champions included in the patch are Illaoi, Lillia, and Corki-reducing their growth stats and ability potency in order to bring them more in line with everyone else in the roster.
These nerfs aim to create a healthier balance in solo queue and competitive play, where these champions more often than not have seen favor due to their power and sustain. These changes might then make players look for other champions to maintain an advantage in the meta.
