Helldivers 2 is dealing with a major issue as it experiences a steep 80% drop in active players just four months after launching on PC and PlayStation 5. This quick decline is worrisome for any new multiplayer game. Additionally, Johan Pilestedt, the CEO of Arrowhead Game Studios and Director of Helldivers 2, announced he is stepping down to become the Chief Creative Officer at the studio.
Despite acknowledging a temporary slowdown in updates, Arrowhead needs to focus on improving content variety and quickly increasing the range of available weapons. And they are doing just that.
Last month, leaker IronS1ghts posted a picture of a planet exploding along with a "Dark Fluid Containment Device," which is said to be part of the "Dark Fluid Research Station" objective.
At that time, it was thought this device would be used in the Major Order to destroy Meridia, a Terminid planet. Since the news reporter mentions destroying a Terminid supercolony, what better method than to detonate a self-collapsing black hole inside the planet?
What do we know about the dark fluid in Helldivers 2?
Helldivers 2 recently shared a news update about an accident at a dark fluid research station that resulted in a miniature black hole. This is a significant event for Super Earth and might be connected to the leaks about us destroying an entire planet.
"Today, the dark fluid research facility at Moradesh went into emergency shutdown after what officials called a 'close call'," the reporter says. "Reports indicate that the unstable exotic materials collapsed into a micro black hole, which spaghettified 12 facility members before evaporating. Weaponized dark fluid research is set to resume tomorrow, with no expected delays in supporting the operation to destroy the Terminid supercolony."
Fans are already putting on their tinfoil hats as theories are popping up everywhere. One of those theories is that the dark fluid, which is derived from Illuminate technology, might signal our significant scientific progress to them, provoking their attack. Another group speculates that the black hole didn't simply vanish but was deliberately closed by the Illuminate, potentially preventing a more catastrophic event.
Whether or not these speculations will turn out to be true is yet to be seen. But each of them is equally plausible. Only time will tell. We just have to keep our faith in the Ministry of Truth.
