Announcement from the Ministry of Intelligence in Helldivers 2

A Helldivers 2 community manager has confirmed that the developers need more time on the next weapons balance patch. This announcement follows previous nerfs that proved to be incredibly controversial.

While Helldivers 2 is relatively new, its history of weapon balancing and updates has been a rollercoaster ride. The last patch introduced several nerfs, significantly reducing the effectiveness of popular weapons. As a result, many players eagerly await the next round of balances, hoping some changes will be reverted.

However, it seems that the patch isn't ready just yet. In the Helldivers 2 Discord, a community manager was asked about the patch's release timeframe. Their response was brief but straightforward: "More time. We're cooking."

This announcement was made in response to a player's inquiry about the patch's release timeline, indicating that the team is actively working on the update but is not yet ready to release it.

What made the developers delay the latest Helldivers 2 Patch?

The delay in releasing the patch is partly attributed to the need for a more thorough addressing of previous patch issues. Developers are likely considering player feedback to restore the original appeal of some weapons. Additionally, the team is working on fixing other issues, such as the problematic spear targeting, which players have been vocal about.

Helldivers 2's game director, Johan Pilestedt, acknowledged these concerns, admitting that the team might have "gone too far" with the nerfs. He emphasized the need to reassess their approach to balance updates to avoid removing enjoyable aspects of the game.

Player feedback has always been crucial for Helldivers 2. In response to backlash over mandatory PSN account linking for PC players, Steam began refunding Helldivers 2 players even if they had exceeded the standard two-hour playtime limit. The account linking requirement, announced by Sony and Arrowhead Game Studios, faced widespread criticism, especially from players in regions without PSN access.

Although PSN account linking is no longer mandatory, the game remains delisted from over 170 countries and regions. Helldivers 2 has been partially relisted on Steam in several countries following its previous delisting.

We'll have to wait and see how long it takes for the devs to cook up another balance patch. At the very least, they should have more time now that the update, which would have added forced PSN integration to Helldivers 2, is out.
