343 Industries, who are now officially known as Halo Studios, have presented their vision for the future of Halo games which includes multiple Unreal Engine 5 projects and what seems to be a new era for the Master Chief and the globally popular Halo universe.
Speaking in a new short developer vlog, the Halo Studios dev team revealed that one of their aims for Halo on Unreal is to make the game a true graphics showcase with incredible visual fidelity, which is something that the original Halo games were known for.
"The original Halo franchise was a graphics showcase, it was best in class. That's what Halo was when it first was released and that's what Halo needs to be again," said Daniel Henley, Lead FX Artist at Halo Studios.
The visual fidelity that Halo Studios aim to achieve with the next Halo games can be seen in their Project Foundry video, which I've linked below. Keep in mind that this is not a game but something that the studio did to familiarise themselves with the engine and prepare for the next big Halo game.
The short video showcasing three areas looks mighty impressive but visually distinct from previous Halo games, which is expected after the engine change.
It's not surprising to see that Halo Studios have set visual fidelity as one of their core design pillars for the next Halo game since Halo Infinite was heavily criticised for its subpar visual presentation, especially after the initial gameplay reveal and the iconic brute Craig and his model in the game.
