Phil Spencer is quite confident that 343 Industries' upcoming mammoth shooter Halo Infinite will be a success for Xbox. Speaking to IGN, Spencer made it clear that he does not think Infinite is some kind of "make or break" title for the Halo franchise, quite the contrary, he expects Halo to be here ten years from now, kicking stronger than ever before in its rich history.
"I don’t know if this is what you want me to say or not, like when I think about the community but I’m just being honest, I don’t think about it that way, like the future of the franchise," Spencer responded. "Halo will be here 10 years from now. Is Infinite the lynchpin on whether it survives that long? Absolutely not.
“The game has such a rabid fanbase and such a history and lore that it’s just an IP that’s going to be with us. We don’t take that for granted, but I definitely believe in my core that that is true."
Spencer and the team previously stated that Halo Infinite will be a Halo game for the next decade, which suggests that 343 Industries might not release another major Halo title after Infinite, for years to come.
Of course, there's nothing bad in supporting a title for many many years, especially when there's a free-to-play multiplayer component attached to it.
All in all, Halo Infinite is certainly going to be one massive title for Xbox Game Studios and we cannot wait to get our hands on the game this Holiday.
Thanks, VGC.
