Bungie announced that Beyond Light will feature sweeping changes to how Ghosts work in Destiny 2, which should allow for much more customisation and the ability to use shells we like visually.
Armor 2.0 was a great step forward for Destiny 2 and the mod customisation allowed players to tailor their builds with more precision and often with the looks they prefer. Ghosts, however, are still suffering from the utilitarian syndrome and only a few shells are currently used due to superior bonuses they grant.
That is going to change when Beyond Light launches as the little resurrectors will be able to look great while also providing bonuses that the players choose.
Each Ghost Shell will feature energy levels. Just like armour, they will have up to 10 energy , which will be used up by the mods players slot in them. Up to a total of four mods can be slotted but the fourth slot will only be unlocked after masterworking the shell.
No Ghost Shell will be stuck with a random or static selection of perks, except the Generalist Shell. That's the first one you get when starting a new character and getting a more useful one is as simple as pulling it out of Collections for those who already played the game.
If you haven't acquired a shell yet, just grab some Bright Dust from bounties and purchase a one from Eververse. Alternatively, Zavala, Drifter and Shaxx all offer various shells for completing activities.
There will be a default selection of perks that each shell will have unlocked at the beginning but players will unlock more through gameplay so keep an eye out what the Tower vendors have in stock.
