It now looks like a flash but boy did Fortnite go a long way from its launch on 24 July 2017, taking less than a year to steamroll the undisputed battle royale king in PUBG and set new standards in the process. Celebrations? But of course.
No, Epic will not be handing out millions of dollars this time or even V-Bucks for that matter, but will instead be holding a special Fortnite birthday event, with one-time XP and cosmetic prizes.
Fortnite players logging in between 24 July and 07 August 2018 will have three challenges to complete for the birthday directive, where the first one is just playing 14 matches. Simple enough and it earns you 5,000 XP as well.
Second challenge is dealing 1,000 damage to opponents, again pretty basic stuff and you've probably done more damage waving at opponents by now. Completing the challenge earns you the Fortnite Birthday! emoticon.
Dancing in front of 10 different birthday cakes is the third challenge, which may prove to be a bit trickier, especially since world plus dog will be going for them. However, the capacity for funny Fortnite videos is through the roof with these kind of events.
Epic knows it too, encouraging Fortnite players to share their squad's best birthday cake dance parties on social networks, which should produce at least a few scenes worth watching. Hopefully, none of them end up like these that wanted to watch the rocket launch.
Almost forgot there, birthday cake dancing challenge earns you the Happy Birthday! spray. Completing all the Fortnite birthday challenges gets you the Birthday Cake bling. Note that celebrations last until 07 August, so if you want these items, you may want to log in and do your chores before then.
