Even before the latest gameplay trailer, I was pretty hyped for Lords of the Fallen, a spiritual successor of 2014's dark fantasy action RPG of the same name.
However, the new gameplay showcase, which gave us an extended look at the game's dual-world mechanic, and stunning locations that we'll get to visit made Hexworks' upcoming title one of my most anticipated games of 2023.
The trailer really has everything you usually want from a souls-like game - a stunningly detailed world, all sorts of monstrosities and big bosses. And the combat looks fantastic too, which is one concern less of my list for Lords of the Fallen.
As you can probably tell from that trailer, the dual worlds mechanic makes the game look quite unique, adding even more depth to the exploration.
The devs say that both worlds have their own unique pathways, enemies and treasures and it's up to players to decide which realm they want to journey through. Yes, that means you can switch from one to the other at any time to find secrets and whatnot.
So all in all, we think that's plenty of reasons to get excited for Lords of the Fallen and forget about that cursed Bloodborne remake for at least 20-30 hours or whatever the length of Lords of the Fallen's story is.
Lords of the Fallen officially launches on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on October 13, 2023.
