It's been exactly three years since the announcement of a new Fable game by Forza Horizon 5 studio Playground Games. Xbox fans have been patiently waiting to hear and see more and their prayers have been answered as a new trailer was revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase 2023.
The trailer was captured entirely on Xbox Series X so everything you in the video above is running in-game, unlike that first trailer from three years ago. You'll notice straight away that British comedian and actor Richard Ayoade stars in the game, which was quite a surprise and a positive one for sure.
Interestingly, the trailer didn't show a lot of raw gameplay but there are some glimpses that show us just how stunning Fable looks. We also got some new official descriptions regarding the game's story, which mention "a dark threat looming".
Here are short descriptions of the game's plot that Xbox shared on their blog:
"What does it mean to be a Hero? Well, in the fairytale land of Albion, that is entirely up to you. With a dark threat looming, and in a world where your reputation precedes you, your choices will change Albion forever.
Playground Games presented Fable, its upcoming open-world Action RPG and a new beginning for the legendary and much-loved franchise. Welcome to Albion, the home of heroes and where Fable takes place. It’s in this immersive fairytale land of adventure that myriad challenges, treasures and stories await."
Sadly, there is still no mention of the actual release date, which makes us wonder when exactly we will get to play Fable. Given that Xbox did not even drop the slightest of hints, it's probably not coming anytime soon. If we had to guess, we'd say it's coming sometime in 2025 at the earliest.
Fable will be available on PC and Xbox Series X|S.
