Fallout 76's upcoming Wastelanders update is promising to be the biggest one yet and Bethesda just posted that the update will get its own Private Test Server. There's also the next week's update, as well as the Double XP event.
"Our Wastelanders update is still a work in progress, but we feel the time is right to invite a small number of players from outside of our studio to join us in early playtesting of the new content in a Private Test Server (PTS) on PC. For the next few days, you will be able to sign up to let us know that you’re interested in playtesting Wastelanders", they wrote in the Inside the Vault blog.
A few hundred of players will get their Wastelanders Private Test Server invites starting on 17 January 2020. We're talking about the full deal rather than just a taste, meaning all the content will be accessible until the servers go down prior to the launch.
The testing will be only for Fallout 76's PC players but you may want to hurry though as the opt-in period ends at 6pm ET on 14 January. Note that Wastelanders enthusiasts will be required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) in order to participate.
As necessary preparation for Wastelanders, Bethesda will be rolling out a minor patch next week, but Fallout 76 players will find that it doesn't have many gameplay tweaks.
"This patch will require some downtime on Tuesday, and we will be providing patch notes, but we wanted to let you know that the list of changes will be shorter than usual", they wrote.
Last but not least is the Double XP event, the duration of which is as follows:
- Start: 12:00 p.m. ET on Thursday, 9 January
- End: 12:00 p.m. ET on Monday, 13 January
