Bethesda have some big news for Fallout franchise's Steam fans, announcing that Fallout 76 will be launching on Steam hand in hand with the Wastelanders update on 14 April 2020. If you bought it through Bethesda, there's more great news.
Many though Fallout 76's release on Steam to be inevitable and they were right. What they didn't foresee is that Bethesda will include a free Steam copy for those who purchased the game through their launcher.
"From now through 11:59pm ET, April 12, if you have already purchased Fallout 76 on Bethesda.net, you have the opportunity to get the game on Steam, including Wastelanders", the dev wrote.
All you need to do is head on over here to link your Steam account to your Bethesda.net one before 11:59pm ET on 12 April 2020. Once the Steam version of Fallout 76 is live, you will have your reward.
There are a few caveats though, as the Atoms and/or Fallout 1st membership balance is not shared between Bethesda and Steam, and the same goes for the Atoms you earn.
If it's any consolation, the items bought by Fallout 76 players through the Atomic Shop will be available on Bethesda and Steam.
Wastelanders has been in development for a while now and is supposed to be the biggest update Fallout 76 has received since launch. Perhaps it's only fitting that it marks the day the Fallout franchise returns to Steam, where it reached a large majority of its fanbase.
Fallout 76: Wastelanders is, of course, a free update for all the existing game owners, and any progress you make will carry over across platforms. Unfortunately, Atoms and Fallout 1st membership entitlements are not part of the deal.
