Gamers have been eating good since the beginning of this year with multiple successful game launches, including the sudden release of hit classic titles in a refreshed look. It all started with Koei Tecmo shadow-dropping Ninja Gaiden 2 Black for all modern platforms with a fresh Unreal Engine 5 revamp.
Fast forward to April 2025, Bethesda just went ahead and dropped one of the biggest surprises of the year by releasing their 2006 classic title, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, in an Unreal Engine 5 revamp. So, without further ado, let's dive into what's new in the remaster of one of the greatest RPGs of all time.
What's new in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered?
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is available across all platforms, including PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X. The game is priced at $34.99 for the Standard Edition and $39.99 for the Deluxe Edition. Here's a look at everything new in the game:
- Unreal Engine 5: The game has been completely rebuilt with Unreal Engine 5, providing players with unmatched fidelity and graphical clarity. The game's look has been completely revamped with improved lighting, textures, animation, and character models.
- Levelling System: The level-up system has been completely reworked, making it much easier than its classic counterpart. Instead of levelling up their major skills players start the game with, they can easily individually level up their skills. The system is more similar to its successor, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
- New Sprinting Mechanic: Sprinting is finally available in the game, which was absent in its classic counterpart. With the newly added movement mechanic, players can easily move to any part of the map they want to.
- Upgraded Third-Person Camera: The third-person camera has been upgraded to make it feel a lot better than the classic one. As players reported, the third-person camera in the classic RPG was a lot stiffer and unimpressive to use, but with the newly remastered counterpart, the third-person has been made a lot better.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is a massive improvement on the classic title. Bethesda and Virtuos have gone ahead and released one of the greatest RPGs under everyone's nose without any previous announcements, making it much more memorable and exciting for the fans of the game.
