The Witcher: Wild Hunt - Songs of the Past

CD Projekt Red will reveal new details on The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past at gamescom Opening Night Live, with hands-off presentations of the expansion on the show floor.

CD Projekt Red are bringing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Songs of the Past to gamescom 2026, where we'll get the first official look at the exciting new DLC. New information will be revealed during gamescom Opening Night Live, the Geoff Keighley-hosted showcase that traditionally kicks off the event with trailers and announcements.

In case you missed it, Songs of the Past is a new expansion for The Witcher 3, developed with Fool's Theory, that returns players to the role of the iconic witch hunter Geralt of Rivia. It's scheduled to arrive in 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC if everything goes according to plan.

What exactly gets shown is where expectations should be tempered. Beyond confirming a reveal at ONL, CD Projekt haven't specified what they plan to talk about. That said, a showing of this kind typically brings the sort of material that accompanies a proper unveiling: a trailer, likely the first screenshots, and hopefully some concrete story details. We'd expect at least some of that, on top of the confirmation on whether the DLC comes with additional gameplay mechanics and visual improvements.

Hands-off presentations at the booth

Players and press attending Gamescom will also be able to see the expansion in person via a guided presentation at the CD Projekt Red booth. These are the details confirmed:

  • Business area: booth B065, Hall 4.2, from 26 to 28 August
  • Entertainment area: booths B030 and A031, Hall 8.1, from 26 to 30 August

CD Projekt Red say these are presentations rather than hands-on demos, so expect to be shown the expansion rather than to play it if you're planning to visit the booths.

Witcher 3 is still going strong, despite being such an old title.

It's certainly incredible that, a decade on, The Witcher 3 remains such a strong phenomenon, capable of building a strong hype for what will be a DLC, not even a full-fledged game. A brand-new chapter for a game that old is a rare occurrence, something that we don't see at all in the modern games industry.

Platforms and release

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Songs of the Past launches in 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Its next reveal comes during gamescom Opening Night Live in August.
