Electronic Arts have officially confirmed that a new Need for Speed game in development and it's set to launch sometime in November 2019. However, EA don't have plans to reveal the game just yet, they won't even talk about it on E3 2019.
EA's Need for Speed franchise has seen many ups and downs over the last few years. More downs than ups to be honest as most modern Need for Speed games have failed to reach the status of their beloved predecessors such as Need for Speed Underground or Need for Speed Most Wanted.
Despite this, EA, Criterion and Ghost Games still continue to work on more Need for Speed and they have another one ready for 2019 release. In an official announcement on EA's Answers HQ website, the publisher confirmed that a new racing game from Need for Speed series is in development and should launch sometime in November 2019, which is a traditional launch window for Need for Speed franchise.
However, EA are not ready to talk about the game just yet. They won't even reveal it on the world's biggest gaming expo E3 2019, which is starting on Friday, 07 June 2019. This is a surprising decision by the publisher since E3 expo was always the place for the reveal of new Need for Speed games.
2019 marks Need for Speed's 25 year anniversary and EA say that they want to deliver something special for the fans of the franchise, rather than just a series of promo events.
"Our goal is to deliver a truly memorable high-speed entry into the 25 years of NFS, rather than a series of promotional events. The game matters most – a sentiment we bet you share with us," it's written in the post.
The only thing that EA confirmed when it comes to gameplay is that new Need for Speed will have cars and customisations. Apparently, these two elements play pivoral role in Need for Speed games. That was quite unexpected, really.
