Bungie seems to have overdone it with crafting materials in Destiny 2: The Witch Queen and they are now kicking it down a notch as a result of player feedback.
Destiny 2 players got a new way of obtaining weapons with The Witch Queen as crafting made its debut. However, the system came with some drawbacks, one of which had to do with additional currencies and their caps.
Dedicated players found themselves earning too many Ruinous, Adroit, Mutable, Drowned and Energetic elements as they quickly reached the cap of 250 of these materials. Considering how much is needed for crafting, this was easy to unload so losing the elements while capped was a bit egregious. In other cases, certain elements could simply become redundant.
Bungie responded to the feedback by announcing that next Tuesday, March 22, 2022, will include a hotfix that will move the caps from 250 to 1,000. Additionally, these elements will be completely removed next season, at which point only the Neutral Element will remain as a currency for crafting. In the meantime, the Neutral Element cap has also been boosted to 10,000, up from 8,500.
Overall, this should result in a much better crafting experience for everyone chasing their shiny new weapons they can spend time on perfecting. Furthermore, players will have fewer issues keeping their inventory clear as Resonance weapons are already taking pretty much all the inventory slots meant for gear.
Let's hope this gets addressed next.
