Bungie announced an experimental version of Gambit that will hopefully lower the chances of snowballing in the Destiny 2 PvPvE mode.
Gambit's reputation among Destiny 2 players is often suffering because Invaders tend to be too disruptive, especially if their teammates are highly effective with mote gathering. Bungie seems to have something brave and interesting in mind as they hope to bring in more players with an experimental mode.
Gambit Labs will present us with Invasion Swap on the next weekly reset in Destiny 2. What this means is that reaching milestones in collecting modes will now provide an invasion for the enemy team, rather than your own.
Therefore, popping a bunch of blockers to the enemy side to wreak havoc while you pick people off will not necessarily be a viable strategy anymore. In fact, the only way this can happen is if the enemy team gives you an invasion at the same time which is not something that will happen often.
Additionally, if you immediately invade after the enemy team deposits motes, your usefulness will be limited. Instead, players will need to make educated guesses on when to hop over to the other side to maximise the damage they can do.
To sweeten the pot, Bungie is throwing in a double reputation week for Gambit on April 5, 2022, which will last until the weekly reset on April 12.
