Bungie will be fixing some of the top tier PvP activities in Destiny 2 to prevent players from using third person to their advantage in some of the most extreme situations.
Destiny 2 maps are all chunky and can easily fit 12 Guardians, meaning they were most likely designed for 6v6. However, the top PvP activities, Competitive (Survival) and Trials of Osiris are 3v3 PvP fights with no goal other than annihilating the opposing team.
Without anything to push them against one another, the two teams can just come close enough to register on the radar, hide behind cover and keep using third person tools to peek behind, in hopes of the opponents rushing in so they can sucker punch them with a shotgun. Alternatively, the same method can be used for scouting out and seeing if an enemy sniper is holding a lane.
As you may have guessed or experienced by now, this can lead to boring stalemate matches up until the point that capture zone appears and teams are just waiting it out until they get Supers in order to go in.
Two of the biggest offenders that allow players to use third person to peek are emotes and swords. Both of these will get nerfed with Season 15 but only in Trials and Comp.
These activities will completely block emotes while swords will not be usable unless they have ammo.
Both of these solutions are simple enough and have been suggested by the community and Destiny 2 content creators for a long while. It seems Bungie is finally heeding their calls and we should see these changes in roughly half a year.
