After a fairly long period of players requesting the ban system's overhaul, Caliber is finally implementing it.

With the 22.0 update, Caliber will get a bunch of 3D scopes which probably took the devs much more effort than the ban changes did but it will be the latter that the community will consider the highlight.

In a display of listening to the community feedback, 1C Game Studios changes to the ranked ban system that closely resemble those that were suggested in the official Discord.

First of all, there will be no more double bans.

One of the biggest issues with Caliber's ban system is that two teams can ban the same operator because they vote at the same time and don't see each other's pick.

The new system will have teams ban in turns. First, one team bans an operator then the second team bans two operators. The first team then gets their remaining two bans, closed out by the second team's final ban.

Random chance will decide which team bans the first operator but the first pick is not random - the team that was second in line for bans will be the first one to pick.

Ban phases for each team will last 12 seconds so the total time spent banning operators will be roughly the same as before the changes

Meanwhile, Caliber has 68 operators in total so just six bans is not actually enough. Whether the team decides to allow more bans in the future remains to be seen.
