When Rise of the Angry Earth launched, New World introduced a new breed of gear - artefacts. These are meant to be highly powerful but some were just more powerful than others and some just had no business being the game wreckers they turned out to be.
Ankh, for example, turned the PvP scene upside down as people started having incredibly high heals on their own and became unkillable if they had a healer. It was quickly nerfed but it doesn't seem to be enough.
Amazon Game Studios are still monitoring its performance and it may get nerfed once again in the future, which it really should. One of the ideas is that shielding heals shouldn't count as incoming heals so the amulet doesn't buff them as well.
Abyss is another target for balancing as it deals too much damage since it synergises so well with fire staff, which is currently overpowered on its own. The main issue with the Abyss is the additional damage when mana isn't full, which can then be combined with an opal gem to provide a total of 30 per cent bonus damage of both stamina and mana are not full, which is the case almost 100 per cent of the time in PvP.
Lifetaker is a bit too powerful in large scale PvP such as OPR, Wars and Influence Races and it may be nerfed in such a way that it doesn't affect its performance in the arenas.
Scorpion's Sting is also a target for balancing although the only problematic combo AGS found so far is with a blunderbuss as a knocked down target is powerless to defend itself against the burst. One potential change is the range of the pull but nothing is final yet.
Now just wait until they discover Scorpion's Sting with sword and shield.
