Creative Assembly's name is being dragged through the mud these days and depending on who is doing the dragging, they may be completely right to do so.
Leading up to the release of Total War: Pharaoh, the company failed the fans on multiple levels, which is why their distaste for Creative Assembly is justified.
On the other hand, the way the higher-ups are treating the whole situation just keeps tossing the company from the frying pan into the fire on repeat.
The company's surroundings were turbulent due to the announcement of the aforementioned Pharaoh instead of the games the fan base wanted but even worse was Hyenas, the game that was completely out of the team's usual genre and one that everyone saw as a failure from the get-go. Everyone except the decision-makers at Creative Assembly it seems.
Following the game's absolute failure to garner attention, it was cancelled just before official release and it was around this time that Creative Assembly started punishing fans for it.
One of the highlights is the recent Steam post where they announced they would ban players for voicing criticism unless they also provided a solution to a problem in the thread. This was incredibly tone-deaf and everyone thought the company would stop there and take a few steps back but they did the opposite.
That same post announced Creative Assembly will ban people who are calling for boycotts of the company's games, which is just another attempt to choke out anyone who isn't silently consuming whatever "goods" are tossed their way.
Don't miss:
