Bungie announced they would be ceasing the Power cap increases each season, for the most part, and the players might still get to enjoy the game instead of chasing arbitrary numbers.
Grinding to Power cap is one of the chores in Destiny 2 players hate the most and it seems like this is finally coming to an end, more or less. With the seasonal model post-Shadowkeep, we would see 50 Power level increases with each new season.
While this was initially a quick obstacle to overcome, it was still an annoying one and subsequent changes made sure it lasted longer to agonise us even more. It seems like all those player complaints were not overlooked though as Bungie decided the Power cap will behave differently in Season 14.
The cap will be raised by only 10 for each season, while the expansions still seem to be on track to keep the regular increase. Considering the cap will be moving by 10 per season, it is probably obvious that this will meant Pinnacle drops will be the only way to raise it.
This change will affect many systems in Destiny 2 and it remains to be seen how it will work with the new vendor mechanics where we get a Prime Engram for every three levels of reputation. Since we will need Pinnacles to move the number up, Prime Engrams might prove to be fairly useless.
On the other hand, players will be able to jump into activities quicker and the disparity in Trials and Iron Banner shouldn't be too big anymore.
