Destiny 2 players were recently trying to unlock the rest of their Solar 3.0 fragments but now Bungie explained why it was in vain and how to actually get them.

Destiny 2 has now almost completely switched to the system where builds are decided by Aspects and Fragments, with only the Arc subclass remaining up for rework, which is coming in Season 18.

When Solar 3.0 launched, a few Fragments remained locked, which prompted the players to visit Ikora to see if they can buy them, like the Void 3.0 ones but this was not the case.

Bungie recently provided an explanation on what's going on here and why Ember of Empyrean, Ember of Char, Ember of Ashes and Ember of Wonder are currently unavailable for everyone.

The reason is that the community needs to complete Nightmare Containment 20 million times. Once this community goal has been fulfilled, these four Fragments will become available and then the Guardians can purchase them from Ikora.

You should also be wary that Ember of Benevolence is currently disabled and is pending a fix before returning,

Some players managed to unlock Ember of Ashes and Ember of Wonder early but this was not intended and will not be the case for most players. Others didn't get Ember of Eruption and Ember of Searing when they were supposed to.

Bungie's solution here is that they won't remove additional Fragments that were accidentally unlocked but the ones that are accidentally missing will not become available either, until the community goal has been reached.
