Season of the Worthy saw a sharp spike in Auto Rifle usage but Beyond Light will take it down a notch since Destiny 2's notorious 600 RPM archetype is getting nerfed along with possibly the most hated grenade launcher in the game's history.
When Bungie buffed Auto Rifles in Destiny 2, many saw it as a great addition since the Guardians' arsenal would be enriched by weapons that were previously not useful.
However, the devs went a bit overboard with 600 RPM buffs and made The Crucible meta rather homogenous - everyone was running around with an Adaptive Frame Auto Rifle and one of the three Special Ammo weapon types that included snipers, shotguns or the Mountaintop. Three out of four weapons and weapon types from that pool are getting nerfed or altered .
The latest TWAB's nerf list included the 600 RPM Auto Rifle change as their damage was dropped by roughly 10 per cent, going from 15.75 per shot down to 14.25. This should mean the TTK will go up from 0.7s to 0.77s and be more in line with other weapons. It also means going from seven crit, one body shot to eight crit, one body shot for optimal TTK.
Mountaintop will now require more precision as splash damage has been reduced while impact damage was increased. Bottom line, splash damage is now five per cent lower than before which should translate into a few more followup shots before you die.
The real nerfs come from the lower projectile speed and accuracy though. Micro-Missile perk is getting a nerf so the projectiles will now be only 20 per cent faster than other breech load Grenade Launchers' instead of 40 per cent which is the case in the current sandbox.
Furthermore, firing it while airborne will have more projectile error which is around seven degrees without the Icarus Grip mod. The mod will still mitigate the deviation a bit but still won't be as precise as before. It also sounds like this will become the best mod to use so Quick Access Sling shouldn't be as much of a problem anymore.
