Bungie may have disabled Trials due to players getting easy loot but this will not be the case with the bug that allows up to 12 people to get into a raid.
Destiny 2 players usually go to the endgame activities when hunting for some of the best rolls on weapons or stat rolls on armour. When it comes to Trials, everyone prefers not to actually play the mode and teams are either jumping off the map or gambling on who wins instead.
While raids are in a much better state than Trials, they are time-consuming and what better way to cut down on that than double your team size. The players discovered a bug that would let them queue up with another team of six, making it a total of 12.
You are likely to be aware of the bug's existence by now since it's been around for a while but Bungie spoke about it for the first time in the TWAB from March 4, 2021.
There, the CM Cozmo stated that the team is glad to see the players enjoying themselves and Bungie is not rushing out a fix for this bug. Furthermore, it's completely fine for the players to try it out so no bans will be dished out, you are officially safe.
They did, however, warn players that the activities in Destiny 2 were not created with 12 players in mind so they might encounter some weirdness.
Grandmaster Nightfalls will begin on March 16, 2021, and Cozmo stated there are no plans to fix the bug before then so you are free to enjoy Guardian clown cars until that date.
