2025 really spoilt us up until now, and it's not even half of the year behind us, with some real "game of the year" materials already being out, like Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and the latest debut from Sandfall Interactive, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 came out of nowhere and took us all by the neck, being a true hit and the game that left us in awe, not just as the starting impression but all the way to the end; seriously, a few gave it a chance to reach such heights, but it turned out to be one of the best games, not just of this year but of several previous ones as well.
A couple of days ago, a very interesting piece of information surfaced. Namely, Kepler Interactive, the publishers of this amazing game, reported online that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 hit the milestone of 3.3 million copies sold, and to make this even more interesting, this all happened on day 33 since the game's launch.
For those unfamiliar, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is an action RPG featuring turn-based combat, developed by Sandfall Interactive, a France-based studio made mostly by the developers who previously worked at Ubisoft, with Guillaume Broche, the director of the game, being one of Ubisoft's top employees working on some very popular games.
In one of his interviews that recently surfaced online, Guillaume Broche said that he dreamt of making a different game while being bored while working at Ubisoft, and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a fruit of those dreams and hopes from before.
In any case, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 turned out to be a game even those who hate turn-based combat eventually fell in love with due to its amazing story, stunning visuals, and the overall atmosphere you definitely won't find in any other game out there.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and if you own a Game Pass subscription, you can play it for free as part of this subscription package.
