Capcom officially announced plans to reveal their next Resident Evil game at Tokyo Game Show, which is starting on 09 September. The official website for the game is now live and it's titled Project Resistance with emphasis on "RE" letters.
Only seven months after the release of the last game in Resident Evil series - Resident Evil 2 Remake, the Japanese publisher Capcom are gearing up to officially announce their next Resident Evil project.
Capcom confirmed that the next instalment in the series will be revealed prior to Tokyo Game Show 2019 on September 9 at 3:00 PM [UTC] with a first teaser trailer. Furthermore, new Resident Evil will be shown at Capcom's booth during Tokyo Game Show 2019, which takes place from 12 September to 15 September 2019.
At the moment, the official title for the next game is Project Resistance with an emphasis on "RE" and it remains to be seen if this is indeed the name of the next Resident Evil or just a subtitle.
Capcom invite attendees to their booth to meet members of the development team and take a first look at Project Resistance gameplay. As things stand, the gameplay will be available only on Tokyo Game Show 2019, meaning that Capcom don't have any plans to live stream or share the gameplay video with the rest of the world.
"Tokyo Game Show 2019 attendees will be able to play Project Resistance by advance registration. This opportunity is only available for residents of Japan," Capcom explained.
As for the direction of the new game, well, earlier rumours oscillated between a full-fledged Resident Evil 8 sequel and another remake. It's been two years since the release of Resident Evil 7, so our money would be on a sequel as we already got one remake earlier this year.
Capcom probably aim to release Project Resistance sometime in January, which has been a month for the release of both Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil 2 Remake.
