Destiny 2 players are being hit with another nerf to their experience in Destiny 2 both ways - as the in-game metric and the enjoyment of the game.
Destiny 2 players complained for a long time that bounties are chores and the bane of Guardians' existence and asked for a different system to progress their XP. Eventually, Bungie introduced seasonal challenges and reduced the impact of bounties but just like other features and improvements the players asked for, this turned into another game of corrupt-a-wish for the devs.
Namely, Season 14 reduced XP gains from the seasonal challenges and players started noticing. On May 21, 2021, Bungie stated that XP gains were not nerfed but a bug was fixed instead .
This supposed bug allegedly existed in Season 13 where it resulted in more XP gained through the challenges than anticipated. Bungie then supposedly left the bug in place for the sake of players reaping the benefits but conveniently never mentioned that such a bug exists during the season and not even in Season 14 patch notes when they "fixed" it.
Since this bug was never even mentioned before, one has to ask themselves whether it ever existed or if Bungie is just using a flimsy excuse to make the players grind more than before.
They also mentioned that the XP gained from completing all the seasonal challenges would let players max out their Season Pass. Considering many of them are chores players don't like, one also has to ask themselves if the system was ever changed or if the bounties were merely renamed.
