BioWare's head of live service, Chad Robertson, posted a blog update detailing issues they found with Anthem's infamous VIP demo as well as a list of fixes that will make it to public demo and some fixes that will be available at launch
Robertson's post opened with a statement that BioWare are working to ensure everyone can enjoy the game exactly as they designed it. If you played Anthem's VIP demo or even followed how it unfolded over the past few days, you will know it was plagued by infinite loading screens, desync issues, lag and overall underwhelming performance for a good part of the demo's duration.
Apparently, there are a few bugs that will be dealt with in time for the public demo which will kick off on 01 February 2019. These fixes include a server performance update to combat rubberbanding, so players can actually play without getting thrown back to the position they were in five seconds ago.
Infinite loading times are being investigated, but oddly enough, there is no confirmation these will be fixed for the public demo. We will probably know, come Friday. Client and platform login bugs should also be dealt with, along with entitlement and platform bugs, the latter of which caused issues with Javelin unlocks.
As for the launch day, all the issues above should be fixed, and there is apparently a long list of things that were already fixed. Unfortunately, it will be a different game build from the public demo one, so the fixes will not be available before the launch day. These fixes are as follows:
- Weapons with 0% infusions
- Weapons with bonus that applies to different Javelins
- Plot integrity / party gather issues
- Changes to Javelin unlock behavior
- Fixes for losing XP at end of some expeditions
- Performance Improvements
- Additional stability fixes
- A Social Hub: The Launch Bay
It was already widely known that the Launch Bay wouldn't be available in demo versions, but performance and stability fixes not being available for the testing is a bit worrisome. You can check out the full on the provided link.
