Following the recent speculation about Elden Ring film, Bandai Namco have officially confirmed that Alex Garland is indeed helming the project with American indie film company A24.

It's official. Elden Ring is getting a live-action film. Recent rumours suggested that Bandai Namco and From Software have teamed up with the renowned film director Alex Garland and guess what, they were true!

The director of mega hits like Civil War, Warfare, Ex Machina and Annihilation is helming the project, which is being made by the independent American film production company A24, who are known for some of the most popular films in recent years. Midsommar, Hereditary, Pearl, Uncut Gems, and The Lighthouse are some of the films that come to my mind immediately.

"We’re thrilled to announce that Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc. and A24 are teaming up with writer and director Alex Garland to bring FromSoftware Inc.’s world-renowned video game ELDEN RING to life as a live-action film," Bandai Namco said in their announcement. "We’re truly excited to bring the world of ELDEN RING to fans in a new form, outside the game. Stay tuned. The path ahead is only the beginning."

The details about the film are pretty scarce at the moment. We basically know nothing about the concept, direction or plot, so arm yourself with patience for at least a couple of more years.

If I had to guess, I'd say the film probably won't be following the game's story religiously. Garland and the team will probably try to come up with something of their own, while staying true to the source material.

One thing that I can't wait to see is how the team tackles boss fights. It's certainly a challenging task and one that will require incredible cinematography, special effects and music.

Elden Ring world is truly magical and I can't wait to see it on the big screen

All in all, that's plenty of exciting news for all Elden Ring and dark fantasy fans but fans of Alex Garland's work as well. There's a masterpiece cooking here, I can already tell.

The Elden Ring film does not have a release date at the moment but expect it sometime in the next two to three years.
