FromSoftware’s and Bandai Namco's upcoming action adventure, Elden Ring: Nightreign presents a new interpretation of the Soulslike formula with cooperative gameplay structure and gameplay that focuses on different classes.
The new system revolves around eight playable characters called Nightfarers. Players gain distinctive playstyles through character classes that combine Elden Ring's build diversity with standard fantasy roles to encourage cooperative play and tactical decision-making.
Game director Junya Ishizaki explains that the team meticulously chose these eight characters to reflect beloved traditional builds and fundamental roles from classic RPGs.
The Nightfarer classes each have distinctive strengths and weaknesses with different combat styles including tanky front-line warriors and long-range casters as well as hybrid support fighters. A comprehensive overview of the eight playable Nightfarers available in Elden Ring: Nightreign starts here.
Elden Ring: Nightreign - All 8 Nightfarer classes explained
The team at Nightreign constructed their roster by balancing established fantasy archetypes with Souls builds. Ishizaki explained that the Nightreign developers sought to merge both familiar elements and new ideas.
Nightfarer characters merge classic RPG roles with FromSoftware’s intricate build mechanics resulting in a core cast that remains true to Elden Ring while offering new experiences.
The game developers decided on an eight-character roster so that each Nightfarer would stand out and provide value in cooperative play.
Nightreign focuses on a streamlined system where the selection of each player is crucial to team success instead of presenting players with a multitude of character classes.

Wylder functions as a flexible melee warrior who comes with tools that enhance both movement and endurance. Players looking for a versatile character who can adjust to multiple combat challenges will find this class ideal.

Elden Ring: Nightreign Launches May 30
Elden Ring: Nightreign makes its debut on May 30 bringing eight distinctive Nightfarers and an evolving boss system to support strategic cooperative gameplay.
The game’s class system includes clear roles for players who like tanking, casting spells, supporting allies, or striking stealthily from the shadows.
