Bungie are looking to shake up with 120 RPM Hand Cannon meta and the buffs coming 450 RPM Auto Rifles might just do the trick.
Auto Rifles became meta when the 600 RPM archetype saw some buffs and it stayed like that for an entire season, until 120 RPM Hand Cannons took over. Now with the new season at our doorstep, it is time for another sandbox shakeup and it looks like Auto Rifles might become the next big thing, although with the 450 RPM archetype.
While 600 RPM ARs have a decent range, it is 450s that could remotely compete with Scout Rifles, Pulse Rifles and 120 RPM HCs. When Season 14 kicks in, Bungie will boost these weapons' damage in PvP from 17 to 18, which may not look like much but it has a huge impact on Time to Kill (TTK).
Thanks to Destiny 2 community members that did the math , we already know that the TTK will mostly vary between 0.8 and 0.93 seconds, provided your aim is good enough to hit the wide side of a barn.
This TTK is much better than that of 120 RPM HCs and if you manage to flinch their users, you are going to win most of the duels since missing shots with an Aggressive Hand Cannon is extremely punishing.
To that end, you will be looking for ARs with some key features such as High-Caliber Rounds and perks that help you stay on target, such as Rangefinder, Moving Target, Dynamic Sway Reduction and Tap the Trigger.
Some of the prime candidates for these perks include Horror Story , Seventh Seraph Carbine and BrayTech Werewolf .
Seventh Seraph Carbine is great because it can also spawn Warmind Cells, making it highly useful in PvE as well but the Werewolf is the only one that can roll both Dynamic Sway Reduction and Tap the Trigger, giving it laser precision for the best odds in PvP duels.
