11 bit studios have confirmed that their icy post-apocalyptic city builder Frostpunk sold more than 1.4 million copies on PC in its first year. The devs said that development costs were recovered within 66 hours of Frostpunk going on sale.
Today - 24 April 2019 marks the one year anniversary of Frostpunk launch. 11 bit studios' post-apocalyptic survival city builder has been nothing but success for the team, both commercially and critically ever since its release.
To celebrate the anniversary, the devs shared some of the numbers behind the in-game economy to show how the game is performing overall, including the sales numbers. According to 11 bit studios data, Frostpunk has sold more than 1.4 million copies on PC since launch.
What's even more impressive is that development costs were recovered only 66 hours after Frostpunk went live on Steam. A quite remarkable achievement for such a small studio that will surely help them expand the staff numbers even more.
As for the other gameplay-related stats, 11 bit studios included a lot of them. According to the infographic, Frotpunk sold at least one copy in 191 counties in the world and as you may know, there are 195 of them in the world.
Also, 48,3 per cent of players who played Forstpunk managed to complete the main story and while doing so, they usually excavated 48,000 units of coal. To be fair, we expected a higher number as winters can be pretty brutal in Frostpunk but it seems that not every leader was keen to offer his citizens comfortable conditions.
Furthermore, 59 per cent of players opted for Path of Faith instead of strong laws while 0.3 per cent of players survived 100 days on the hardest difficulty level. All these stats are from PC, while PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players will soon have the opportunity to test themselves in Frostpunk's harsh environment.

The Console Edition will be a tuned adaptation of the PC version and will contain all the previous, free updates. At the moment, there is no specific release date, but the studio is aiming to deliver post-apocalyptic winter on consoles sometime in Summer 2019.
